London Fashion Week

It’s been and gone, the date that every fashionista has marked in their diary for months preceding the event, and all that’s left are memories. And the new trends and collections, of course. Here are some of the best bits and best collections of 2011.

Parties
Naomi Campbell was thrown one by D&G to celebrate her twenty-five years as a coathanger – sorry, model – on the same night as Kate Moss’ Longchamp party to celebrate the launch of ‘her’ new bag. Wonder if the fur flew..?

Curves Abound
Well, curvy for models, but it’s a start! There were actually girls with hips and bums at this years show but don’t get your hopes up that this will stay. Most designers seem to be gay men after all.

Oswald Boateng
Celebrating twenty five years in fashion, Boateng’s show was held in the Odeon Cinema and was the performance of a lifetime. Over one hundred models of all shapes and sizes modelled his latest collection for an audience of journalists, stylists, dedicated followers of fashion and the odd curious passer-by.

Florals
They’re still here. The just-shot-the-sofa look is still going strong with light summer colours being the favourite along with feminine floaty designs like off the shoulder and chiffon skirts. The fact that autumn/winter is coming is seems to have escaped notice.

Pringle of Scotland
More known for their sports clothes, Pringle of Scotland’s collection of womenswear surprised a lot of people. Knits were the stars here (good for the colder weather coming in) and although the colours left a little to be desired, the cuts were clean, feminine and slick.274

Christopher Raeburn
Raeburn is well known for his original style in outerwear and this year was no different. What’s not to like about someone who uses recycled materials to make his designs?!
